Building on successful cell tower tower-top standardization with Qatar Telecom (Ooredoo), CommScope will bring wireless operators a new comprehensive solution for successful fiber-to-the-antenna (FTTA) base station deployment.
FTTATurnkeySolution, part of Andrew's portfolio of wireless solutions, enables standardized installation of Remote Radio Units (RRUs) while bringing simplicity, consistency and performance assurance to technically and logistically complex applications.
The top of an antenna tower is one of the more challenging job locations, especially when you're protecting an existing system while adding active components," said Stan Catey, senior vice president and general manager of CommScope's Cable Products Group. Decades of wireless networking experience, vast partnerships, and unique tower equipment solutions that integrate seamlessly with RRU technology are delivered through FTTATurnkeySolution.
Operators are deploying next-generation RRU technology closer to the antenna on top of cell towers to reduce insertion loss and improve system performance. While this implementation offers new performance benefits, it requires installation of fiber optic cables and electrical equipment at the top of the tower. CommScope's FTTATurnkeySolution reduces the uncertainty of a successful RRU deployment while increasing the transparency of installation, maintenance and operating costs. The FTTATurnkey Solution helps wireless operators build, maintain and implement future-proof wireless networks using any major radio technology. It is a flexible and comprehensive platform that supports multiple RF technologies and frequencies while increasing network capacity. FTTA Turnkey Solution includes:
HELIAX FiberFeed Hybrid Fiber Optic and Power Trunk Cables and Pigtails.
HELIAX SureFlex RF Cable Assemblies
The optional AndrewSiteRise is believed to be the world's first pre-installed tower-top solution for RRU-architecture base stations. AndrewSiteRise was pioneered by international operator Qatar Telecom (Ooredoo) to pre-assemble and pre-test all RF equipment prior to tower hoisting. Through this unique approach to base station construction, AndrewSiteRise brings many benefits to network operators, including:
Standardized installation process
Innovative modular design method to help achieve network performance upgrades
Use a more compact approach to free up valuable space at the top of the tower
Simplified maintenance and replacement process reduces operating costs
Full support for turnkey solutions
In addition to innovative wireless tower solutions, CommScope now offers North American wireless operators a variety of services, resources and overall RF path service assurance as part of FTTATurnkeySolution. CommScope and its partners can support customers through pre-design planning consultation, work scope development, testing, project management, on-site spare parts and comprehensive program promotion. Likewise, CommScope hopes that FTTATurnkey Solution will be available to customers around the world, providing them with complete products and services.
FTTA TurnkeySolution bundles advanced tower technology with comprehensive services, simplifying the evolution to long-range wireless units," said Catey.
FTTA is a game changer in base station cell architecture; CommScope is doing everything we can to help customers succeed
As the largest manufacturer of base station antenna accessories in China, Premier Cable has also produced some compatible base station antenna fiber optic cables, which are mainly compatible with the following CommScope part numbers

The role of DeviceNet terminal resistor
DeviceNet_network is a fieldbus network protocol based on Controller Area Network (CAN). In the DeviceNet network, the terminal resistor plays the role of compensation and protection for signal transmission. The function of the terminal resistor is to eliminate signal reflection and interference and ensure the signal transmission quality.
