There are many types of Cisco routers with different application areas. 


This article first introduces the series of Cisco routers and the models of each series, and then introduces the types of commonly used Cisco routers.

The naming rules of Cisco routes all start with Cisco, such as : Cisco1721, Cisco2621, Cisco3662, Cisco3745 , These are all routers.


For example : Cisco2621


Among them, Cisco : is the brand, the first two digits behind it are the serial number, this product belongs to the 2600 series, and the last two digits are the specific model.


Cisco routers have the following series   :



Cisco2500 series : Cisco2501, Cisco2502, up to Cisco2514, these are all devices that can be seen in China, and then there are foreign ones, which are rarely seen in China.
















Cisco7200 : 7204, 7206, 7204VXR, 7206VXR are all chassis, which require engine support (NPE-225, NPE-300, NPE-400, NPE-G1, the latest is NPE-G2) and service module support. 


Cisco7500 : 7507, 7513 also need the support of the engine (RSP2, RSP4, RSP8, RSP16) and the support of the service module, the service module on the 7200 can be used on the 75, and it needs the support of a VIP card.


On the top is the 12000 series : 12008, 12016 these are the most high-end at present. It also needs the support of engine and business modules.


Switching : The name of the switch is generally at the beginning of WS, which is fixed, and the next letter has two types, one is C and the other is X, C stands for solidified switch or chassis, and X stands for module. For example, when we see the model WS-C3750-24TS-S, we should know that it is a Cisco switch curing switch 3750 series, with 24 Ethernet ports, TS means that it is an Ethernet port + the S behind the SFP port means that it is a standard version. 


The model is E, which belongs to the enhanced or enterprise version.



Another WS-X6748-SFP, ws still stands for switching equipment, x stands for module, 6 stands for 6000 series, 7 stands for 7th generation product, 48 stands for 48 ports, SFP stands for port type
