The serial port to CAN module (RS232/485 to CAN) is a powerful tool to connect the serial port device and the CAN bus device. It can connect the serial port networking device to the CAN bus network, thereby processing, collecting and analyze.

 

Next, I will use Premier Cable's serial port to CAN module and PCM Config software to introduce the configuration method of the serial port to CAN module (RS232/485 to CAN).

Download and install the PCM Config software.

 

The PCM Config software can set the parameters of the serial port to CAN module by itself, including the conversion mode of the module, serial port parameters, CAN bus parameters, 232/485 function switching, etc.

Configuration preparation:

 

When the serial port to CAN module is powered on, tap the reset button at one end of the DB9 interface of the module with the thimble, and the COM light and CAN light of the module flash alternately, indicating that the module enters the configuration mode.

Connect the RS232 interface or RS485 interface of the module to the PC. Enter the device manager to find the serial number

Software connection:

 

When the serial port to CAN module enters the configuration mode and is normally connected to the PC through the serial port, open the "RS232/485 Config Tools" software in the CD to configure the module.

 

After entering the software, select the serial port number connected to the serial port to CAN module, and click "Connect Device" to establish the connection.

 

If the user does not know the serial port number, it can be checked by entering the device manager of the PC. After clicking "Connect", the interface pops up "Read parameters successfully", indicating that the current configuration of the module has been read.
