What is BBU ?


The BBU is the indoor baseband processing unit. 


The indoor baseband processing unit is a distributed base station architecture that is widely used in the 3G network, and an optical fiber connection is required between the RRU and the BBU.


One BBU can support multiple RRUs; the BBU+RRU multi-channel solution can well solve the indoor coverage of large venues.


The BBU is the baseband processing unit of the base station, which provides external interfaces and completes system resource management, operation and maintenance, and environmental monitoring functions.


The BBU includes the main control unit FSMF module, the baseband expansion unit FBBA and the transmission expansion unit FTIF.



Features of BBU :



Generally, the indoor distribution system adopts the electric distribution mode of cables, while the BBU+RRU scheme adopts the distribution mode of optical fiber transmission.


The BBU Building Baseband Unit is centrally placed in the equipment room, and the RRU remote radio frequency module can be installed on the floor. Optical fiber transmission is used between the BBU and RRU, and the RRU is connected to the antenna through coaxial cables and power dividers, that is, the backbone uses optical fibers and branch circuits are used. Use coaxial cable.


The unique multi-channel algorithm realizes spatial isolation, which can reduce interference; coverage and capacity can be independently planned; reduce dependence on trunk amplifiers; baseband capacity can be shared, with large capacity expansion; no fiber loss, easy trunk deployment, and flexible RRU deployment.


However, the disadvantage is that a photoelectric conversion unit needs to be added, and the optical fiber is easily damaged, so armoring is required. The difference between TD-SCDMA indoor distribution system and other 3G TD-SCDMA is time division duplex (TDD), WCDMA and cdma2000 are frequency division duplex (FDD), and the technical system of air interface is also different. Therefore, its indoor distribution system is also different.
