Application of OOK circuit in ESC antenna remote controller RCU 
 

5G products are getting closer and closer to us. Correspondingly, 5G antennas have begun to serve 5G terminals. Naturally, 5G antennas also need to use the ESC antenna remote controller (RCU) to pull the phase shifter to adjust the angle.

In the RCU design, in order to facilitate the wiring, the RRU and the RCU are integrated in the same antenna space, and they are connected by a coaxial cable. The coaxial cable has two functions of power supply and communication.

The communication signal is transmitted in On_Off_Keying (OOK on-off keying modulation mode, also known as binary switch keying) mode, and there is an OOK modulation and demodulation circuit on both the RRU end and the RCU end (only the RCU end is mentioned here).

In addition to the filter circuit, the most important part of the OOK modulation and demodulation circuit is the modulation and demodulation chip. Currently, there are OOK chips designed and produced by TI and MAX on the market, which are compatible with AISG and fully integrated transceivers.

The receiver provides a typical dynamic range of 20dB, integrated band-pass filter, the filter operates at 2.176MHz, and the transmitter integrates a band-pass filter, which is compatible with the AISG transmit spectrum. Lightning protection, ESD protection, etc. are required in the design.

The overall RCU requires low power consumption, high temperature resistance, long-lasting operation, and a friendly communication method.
