What is UART Communication?

Do you remember the printers, mice, and modems back then? They all have huge and bulky connectors and thick cables that must be screwed onto your computer. These devices communicate with computers using the UART protocol.

In UART communication, two UARTs communicate directly with each other. Sending UART converts parallel data from control devices such as CPUs into serial form and sends it serially to the receiving UART. The receiving UART then converts the serial data back to the receiving device's parallel data. Only two wires are required to transmit data between two UARTs.
