Is the Console Cable the Same as RJ45?
Although Console Cable and RJ45 Cable are somewhat similar in appearance, they have different uses and internal structures and cannot be replaced by each other.
Interface: The commonly used interface of Console Cable is RJ45 (some use DB-9 serial port), but one end of it is usually an RJ45 connector or DB-9 serial port connected to the computer serial port, and the other end is RJ45 used to connect to the console interface of the network device. RJ45 Cable usually refers to Ethernet cable (CAT5, CAT6, etc.), both ends are RJ45 connectors, used to connect network devices such as switches, routers, computers, etc.
Use: Console Cable is used to manage network devices, especially for initial configuration or troubleshooting, to access the device console through a serial connection; while RJ45 network cable is used for network data transmission, such as Internet or LAN connection.
Connection method: Console Cable transmits serial signals, while standard RJ45 network cable transmits Ethernet signals.
So, if you want to configure or manage network devices, please use a Console Cable instead of an ordinary RJ45 network cable.
