What is the difference between RJ45 and RJ12  ?


RJ45 is an 8-position connector mainly used for contacts in network wiring. In use, the most commonly used RJ45 connectors are CAT5E or CAT6 cables.

Standardization of connectors provides different classes of performance impact. When RJ45 is equipped with all 8 conductors, different properties can be used in different places.

There is also an RJ 45 JACK whose main function is to provide a connection for data. The 8-position modular connector in the RJ 45 connector can connect any pin, even common structured cabling systems.

RJ12 is a 6-position connector, it has 6 conductors and can be used as a telephone connection. This technology, although still in local use, is a mobile technology that is about to be phased out.

The important thing is that RJ11 and RJ12 use the same connection, only 4 positions compared to RJ11 is the main difference between it and RJ12.
