Getting started with RRU Remote Radio Units 


The RRU consists of two major components: the hardware link transceiver subsystem for real-time transmit and receive link processing functions, and the structural hardware system for heat dissipation, waterproof and dustproof.

The RRU module includes: transceiver board, power amplifier, duplexer, power supply, antenna feeder interface, maintenance window, lightning protection grounding, ventilation valve, AISG (antenna interface standard) and monitoring signals.

BBU: Indoor baseband processing unit (Building Baseband Unite), connected with RRU fiber.

RRU transceiver function hardware system: intermediate frequency digital processing, digital-to-analog/analog-to-digital conversion, clock processing, radio frequency circuit, power amplifier, filter module, power supply module and monitoring module.

The IF digital processing includes uplink and downlink interface processing, downlink DUC+CFR+DPD and uplink DDC modules.

DPD: Digital Predistortion (DPD) is one of the most basic modules in today's wireless communication systems. It is used to improve the efficiency of power amplifiers. Power amplifiers can be made more efficient by reducing the distortion created by operating the power amplifier in a nonlinear region.
