





Remote Electrical Tilt RET Actuator
RRH Remote Radio Head is a new technology equipment used in mobile broadband network base stations. The main benefit is to improve the transmission efficiency of existing signals and to expand its network coverage under an easier network architecture.
The new generation of RRH products can concentrate the Radio Server in the base station in one base station and connect it with the equipment room through optical fiber. Because the introduction of optical fiber connection can extend the transmission distance very far, telecom operators do not need to build one for each base station. As long as the computer room is within an area of 40 kilometers, many RRH device bases can be set up through optical fibers to enhance the overall network signal performance.
That is to say, by separating a part of the previous base station module, and by separating the radio baseband control (RadiosServer, RS) from the RRH, the tedious maintenance work can be simplified to the RS side, and one RS can be connected to several RRHs, and optical fibers are used in between. The connection saves space, reduces setup costs, and improves networking efficiency.
To most people, the term RRH may be unfamiliar. The characteristic of RRH technology is that the base station can be divided into two parts: wireless baseband control (RadioServer) and remote radio frequency. The wireless device part can be individually set remotely, thereby reducing the operator's capital expenditure (CAPEX) and operating cost (OPEX) while flexibly building the network
Using RRH technology, various networks of star, tree, chain, ring and other structures can be constructed flexibly and effectively according to different environments. E.g,
The reason why RRH technology is adopted by many equipment manufacturers is that 3G network has advantages that other networks do not have. A part of the previous base station module is separated, and the tedious maintenance work can be simplified to the RS side by separating the RS (radio baseband control part) from the RRH.
One RS can be connected to several RRHs, which not only saves space, but also reduces setup costs and improves networking efficiency. Moreover, the interface connecting the two uses optical fiber, which has less loss and can greatly reduce power consumption.
In addition, for the interface, the methods adopted by equipment manufacturers are different. It is worth mentioning that the RRH of NEC is based on the open CPRI interface.
