Features of CommScope's New 3.5 GHz Series Antennas
In order to increase network capacity and fully embrace the 5G era, CommScope, the world's leading provider of communication network infrastructure solutions, announced the launch of a new 3.5 GHz antenna series suitable for comprehensive and dense coverage of macro and micro cells. With the new series of antennas, users will be able to achieve an increase in current LTE network capacity when deploying new spectrum bands, fully preparing for future 5G networks.
Key features of CommScope's new 3.5 GHz series of antennas include:
1. Provides a variety of single-band and multi-band options (including beamforming) to provide coverage support in the 3.5GHz frequency band for the deployment of macrocell base stations and outdoor microcell base stations.
2. Through carrier aggregation, high-order MIMO, interference management and beam downtilt functions to fully guarantee the efficient application of spectral efficiency.
3. As an important step towards 5G, the antenna can meet future demands while being compatible with LTE and other early radio frequency technologies.
A well-known research company in the United States said: "There are not many radio frequency products such as base station antennas, combiners and tower-mounted amplifiers that support the 3.5 GHz frequency band in the market. However, for operators limited by network capacity, it is suitable for macro cell base stations. 3.5 GHz base station antennas and RF transmission products for outdoor microcell base station deployments are critical.”
With the introduction of the new antennas, the CommScope antenna and filter portfolio has been further expanded to include:
- 2.3GHz Smart Beamforming Sector Antenna for Macrocell Base Stations
- EU-ready, multi-band antennas and combiners supporting 1400 MHz for macrocell base stations
- 65° sector and quasi-omnidirectional microcell base station antennas
- Combiners and Tower Mounted Amplifiers to support 3.5GHz macro and micro cell site deployments
CommScope's senior vice president of mobile solutions said: "The network capacity is now at the edge of the limit, especially in densely populated urban areas, it is difficult to increase, and even can no longer obtain more space to build base stations. CommScope's new 3.5 The GHz antenna features a special antenna design that supports the 3.5 GHz spectrum, providing additional spectral efficiency to expand capacity for overburdened networks."
In the coming months, CommScope will continue to introduce more antennas and combiners for multiple bands. CommScope will showcase its portfolio of mobile network solutions for the 5G era at Mobile World Congress (NWC) from February 25 to 28.

The antenna and radio frequency in the 5G era will be integrated, and the trend of providing integrated products by main equipment manufacturers (Huawei, etc.) is obvious.
