CANopen-terminating resistor RJ45 connector

CAN bus is a field bus with a main line + branch line structure. Due to its excellent performance in automotive control networks in the early days, it was introduced into the field of industrial automation by many organizations and has been widely used. DeviceNet and CANopen are two famous Field bus systems all use CAN bus as the underlying network.

In the CAN network, when networking, terminal resistors must be connected at both ends of the network, otherwise the network communication may be unstable.

Because of its small size, the RJ45 connector is widely used for CAN interfaces of drives and other equipment. However, due to the special form of the RJ45 interface, it is difficult to connect the terminal resistance on site. Therefore, the terminal resistance module specially designed for the RJ45 interface will be very good. to solve the problems encountered in on-site use.

The RJ45-based CAN bus terminal resistance module has a built-in 120 ohm terminal resistance. The entire module is integrally injection molded, beautiful and firm, and can well meet the needs of industrial field network wiring.

According to the ISO 11898 specification, in order to enhance the reliability of CAN-bus communication, the two endpoints of the CAN-bus network usually need to add a termination matching resistance of 120Ω

The size of the terminal matching resistance is determined by the characteristic impedance of the transmission cable. For example, if the characteristic impedance of the twisted pair is 120Ω, the two terminals on the bus should also be equipped with a 120Ω terminal resistance.

In addition, in long-distance communication, the resistance of the terminal resistor sometimes needs to be increased to ensure the normal communication.

The terminal resistance value between CAN communication is generally 120 ohms.

The role of DeviceNet terminal resistor

DeviceNet_network is a fieldbus network protocol based on Controller Area Network (CAN). In the DeviceNet network, the terminal resistor plays the role of compensation and protection for signal transmission. The function of the terminal resistor is to eliminate signal reflection and interference and ensure the signal transmission quality.
